This is an open letter to my husband. I love reading letters ‘to my husband, wife, signifanct other, son, daughter, etc.’ and this is my take on it.

When we first started talking about expanding our family, I always thought I knew what you would be like as a dad. Loving, caring, compassionate, goofy, understanding and empathetic amongst many others. What I did not realize was what that new world actually looked like and how it would make me feel seeing you in a new chapter.

I will never get over all the funny experiences we have had with our daughter – even starting with labor when you saw me throw up for the first time since we have known each other. The way you stayed calm and in tune with my every movement. You were a consistent rock for me during each contraction, push and stitch.

When our daughter came earth side, I knew you were changed forever. The way you held her and studied each feature of her face will always be engrained in my brain. I will cherish those moments until the end.

Now, seeing you with our daughter brings overwhelming joy to my heart. I can not believe we created this little human. That she is ours and we are hers.

The way she looks at you. Or smiles for you. How she instantly puts her hands out to wrap her arms around your neck and pat your face. It melts my heart into a pile of mush every time. The bond between you two is unbreakable and will only grow stronger with time.

It has been a pleasure growing together as parents. Through the past eleven months of having our daughter here with us, I feel closer to you than I ever have. I can not wait to continue this time together with our family.

I appreciate all you do for us and the sacrifices you make so we can have the life of our dreams. We are living it right now. There is nothing else I would rather be doing than experiencing life with you.

I love you so much.
